Beyond Screen Printing: How Sandlot Became the Tri-Cities’ All-in-One Branding Partner

When Ryan and Adam opened Sandlot in 2008, the community knew us for one thing: high-quality screen printing. We loved it, we perfected it and we built our reputation on it. But as your businesses, teams and organizations grew, your needs grew too – and we grew right alongside you.

Today Sandlot Apparel Decorating is far more than a screen printer. We are a fully vertically integrated branding partner – one source for custom screen printing, embroidery, DTF printing, signs, banners and promotional products for customers across Michigan. And if you’re in Saginaw, Bay City or Midland searching for “embroidery near me” or “screen printing near me,” the decorator you’re looking for is right down the road. Here’s what nearly two decades of growth means for you.

In-House Production: We Control the Outcome

Many companies in our industry are middlemen. They take your order, send it to a third-party facility across the country and hope for the best. We do things differently. We own the equipment and run the operation ourselves at our production facility in Saginaw. That means the people you talk to are the people who make your order.

18-Head Embroidery Operation

High-capacity commercial embroidery, done entirely under our roof. Polos, jackets, hats, workwear and uniforms come out clean, durable and consistent – whether you need a dozen pieces or a full staff rollout.

In-House DTF (Direct-to-Film) Printing

DTF printing produces vibrant, full-color transfers that handle fine detail, gradients and photographic art. It works on cotton, polyester and blends, and it’s a smart choice for smaller runs and individual names. Our own team runs the equipment, so you get the same quality control as everything else we make.

Three Screen Printing Presses

Screen printing is still where we started and still what we do best. Running wide open, our three presses can produce more than 1,000 shirts an hour – the capacity you need for event tees, spirit wear and large company orders on a deadline.

Four On-Staff Graphic Artists

You don’t need retail-ready art to work with us. Our in-house design team works directly with you to turn a logo, an idea or even a hand-drawn sketch into artwork that prints and stitches beautifully. (They’re also pretty great people to work with.)

Roland Printers for Signs, Banners and Lettering

Our Roland equipment handles precision-cut vinyl lettering, posters, vinyl banners and yard signs – so your event signage, storefront graphics and lawn signs match the apparel your team is wearing. Because of this investment, your work stays in our hands. We control the quality, the speed and the outcome – and we stand behind every piece we make.

Screen Printing, Embroidery or DTF? How to Choose

One of the biggest advantages of an all-in-one decorator is that you don’t have to pick a method before you call. Here’s a quick guide to what each one does best.
Method Best for Why choose it
Screen printing T-shirts, hoodies, event tees, spirit wear Bold, long-lasting color; the most cost-effective option as quantities grow
Embroidery Polos, jackets, hats, uniforms, workwear Durable, professional, textured look that holds up to daily wear
DTF printing Full-color logos, small runs, names, mixed garment types Fine detail and gradients on cotton, polyester and blends
Sublimation Team jerseys and performance wear Edge-to-edge color that won’t crack or peel
Signs and banners Events, storefronts, yard signs, vehicle and window lettering Matches your apparel branding so everything looks like one program
Promotional products Trade shows, giveaways, employee and client gifts Puts your logo on the items people use every day
Not sure which is right for your project? Tell us what you’re making and how many you need – our team will recommend the method that fits your look and your budget.

Expanding the Playbook: Promotional Products

This year marks a major milestone in our mission to serve you better. We officially purchased a local promotional products company, bringing their expertise in-house and adding real depth to what we offer. Whether you need uniforms for your staff, banners for an upcoming event, lawn signs or thousands of custom-branded giveaways for a trade show, you no longer have to juggle three different vendors. One order, one point of contact and one consistent look – all under one roof. Browse promotional products to start.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is DTF printing?

DTF (direct-to-film) printing prints your design onto a special film, which is then heat-pressed onto the garment. It reproduces full-color art and fine detail, works on cotton, polyester and blends and is well suited to small runs and personalized pieces.

Do I need finished artwork to place an order?

No. Our four in-house graphic artists can create a design from scratch, clean up an existing logo or turn a sketch into print-ready art.

Can I order apparel, signs and promotional products together?

Yes. Embroidery, screen printing, DTF, signs, banners and promotional products all run through one team, so you get one point of contact and a consistent look across everything.

Where is Sandlot located?

We have showrooms in Saginaw, Bay City and Midland, with production at our Saginaw facility. We serve the Great Lakes Bay Region, mid-Michigan and customers across the state.
