5 Reasons to Choose Sandlot for Screen Printing, Embroidery & DTF

Looking for high-quality custom gear? You need a partner you can trust. At Sandlot Apparel Decorating, we handle screen printing, embroidery and DTF printing under one roof at our own production facility in Michigan’s Tri-Cities, supporting our three retail locations in Saginaw, Bay City and Midland.

We’re far more vertically integrated than most decorating shops. That means every step of your project happens in our building. We aren’t reliant on outside vendors, so if something needs fixing, we don’t have to ship it somewhere else and wait. That’s a bigger advantage than most people realize.

Here are five reasons that makes a real difference for your brand, team, or event.

1. No Middleman, Lower Costs on Custom Apparel

When you work with many shops, they send your job out to a different production facility or factory. That adds fees, and it adds delays.

  • We own our facility
  • We cut out the middleman
  • You get fair pricing and clear communication from start to finish

2. Vibrant DTF Printing, Done In-House

We’re exceptional at DTF printing. Direct-to-film is a modern method where your design is printed onto a special film and pressed directly onto the fabric. We own our printers and all the associated equipment, so we’re never waiting on an outsourced company to send your designs back.

  • Colors stay bright and sharp, with picture-like detail
  • Prints work on cotton, polyester and blends
  • The design stretches with the shirt and resists cracking

DTF is especially useful for smaller quantities and full-color artwork, where screen printing setup costs would make a short run expensive.

3. High-Quality Custom Embroidery

Printed logos look great, but stitched logos last a lifetime. We run professional embroidery machines right in our shop — five machines, 18 heads, plus sewing machines.

  • Perfect for hats, polo shirts and jackets
  • Gives your team a clean, professional look
  • Stitches are tight, neat and durable

Embroidered polos and hats are one of the smartest investments a business can make, which is a big part of why Michigan businesses trust Sandlot with their corporate apparel.

4. Custom Banners, Signs and Yard Signs Made In-House

We do more than shirts. We also produce large indoor and outdoor displays.

  • Need a vinyl banner for game day? We print it
  • Need a sign for your storefront? We print that too, along with yard signs and hole sponsorship signs
  • You can match your apparel and your event signage in one stop

5. Faster Turnaround Times and Custom Team Stores

Delays happen when a shop is waiting on shipping or on a third-party printer. Because we control the whole process, we control the schedule. We can also set up a custom online store for your team, school or office.

  • We print, stitch and pack your order in our own space
  • We catch issues early and fix them fast, without shipping anything out
  • You get your gear on time

Frequently Asked Questions

What is DTF printing?

DTF stands for direct-to-film. Your design is printed onto a special film, coated with adhesive powder, and heat-pressed onto the garment. It produces full-color, photo-quality detail, works on cotton, polyester and blends, and doesn’t require the screen setup that makes small screen-printed runs expensive.

Should I choose screen printing or embroidery?

Screen printing is the more economical choice for larger runs of t-shirts and event apparel. Embroidery is the better fit for uniforms, polos, hats and jackets, where a stitched logo gives a more premium look and lasts longer. Because we do both in-house, we can recommend whichever actually suits your project rather than whichever we happen to be set up for.

How fast can you turn around a custom apparel order?

Turnaround depends on quantity, decoration method and garment availability, but because printing, embroidery and finishing all happen in our own facility, we’re not waiting on an outside vendor’s schedule. Contact us with your deadline and we’ll tell you straight away whether it’s workable.
