Job Summary

Directs, plans, assigns, and monitors production department operations and activities. Determines priorities for department operations in conjunction with production schedule. Responsible for the implementation of all policies, practices, and procedures pertaining to production personnel. Supervises and coordinates the activities of production worker by performing the following duties personally or through assistant personnel.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Inspects and approves production set-ups. Continually monitors production operations including, but not limited to, color reproduction, registration, and decoration quality. Approves first sample run of production with signature.
  • Reviews production orders to gather product data such as is artwork compete, is all apparel received, appropriate ink or thread is available, etc…,and adjusts the delivery dates in order to plan department operations. Issues need to be resolved and addressed to the proper salesmen.
  • Using Shopworks, create production schedules and estimate labor hours required to complete production jobs. Interprets production specifications and job orders and assigns to appropriate machinery and production personnel. Makes determination of job priorities and establishes production order.
  • Establishes, implements, and adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules.
  • Responsible for creating and maintaining a stitch count and imprint count matrix to establish company averages. Using this information responsible for setting and maintain goals.
  • Initiates or suggests plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals.
  • Responsible for establishing and implementing a maintenance schedule for all production equipment on the floor to ensure specific operational performance, optimum utilization and safe operation.
  • Interprets and enforces company policies and safety regulations.
  • Prepares production budget and works to reduce material costs. Control purchasing for production goods for all departments and maintain fiscal responsibly while documenting quarterly savings.
  • Identifying possible training and re-training needs of employees.
  • Recommends measures, through research and training, to improve production methods, equipment performance, and decoration quality.
  • Prepare and inspect screen imaging for print production.
  • Analyzes and resolves work problems, or assists workers in solving work problems.
  • Performs activities of workers supervised.
  • Develops or revises standard operational and work procedures and trains workers to ensure compliance with established procedures.
  • Confers with other supervisors to coordinate activities of individual departments.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Responsible for the overall direction, coordination and evaluation of supervisory and non-supervisory personnel. Carries out leadership responsibilities in accordance with company policies, procedures, safety, and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning assisting, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education and/or Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Business or Production Management from four-year college or university; or three to five years of screen printing and/or digital imaging production management experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Strong skills in work planning, scheduling, and must have good judgment of color, design, and printing quality.

Language Skills

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, customers, and employees.

Mathmatical Skills

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions of practical situations to printing jobs.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
